.....Paddling along
the gentle lush green inland fiords of
Northeastern Papua New Guinea. In the distance,
the rhythmic deep drum base of a Kundu is heard
echoing against the volcanic vistas. As the
drumming reaches a climax our wooden Lagatoi
outrigger canoe pulls into a small village
settlement..."ORO ORO ORO", meaning
"Welcome", is chanted repeatedly by the
entire village as the small children run naked
along the beach side in excitement... we have
reached one of our village guesthouse
destinations and bowls of fresh picked local
fruit await our arrival in the village Kai
house........
Traveling in Papua New Guinea, requires an open mind, a great sense of adventure and a love of unique cultural differences. Our Tufi coastline excursion provides an adventurer with a safe and unique trip along the coast and offers great insight into this unique culturally diverse region of Papua New Guinea.
Located on the North-East coast of PNG, Tufi and the surrounding area has an amazing unpopulated/unexplored feel about it. Life in the more remote villages remain much the same as a hundred years ago. Food is shared from garden to garden and fresh reef fish is still one of the staples on which these people survive. There is no running water, no electricity, no modern technologies or conveniences. Papua New Guinea is a mecca for adventure and unexplored territories and is still very early in it's development of tourism, so everyone is guaranteed a unique experience in the land of the unexpected.
